The
Ideal Micro-Drill™ has the following features:
■ Cordless operation with rechargeable battery
■ Light-weight design
■ Excellent balance and handling
■ No special tools needed to change burrs
The Ideal Micro-Drill™
is designed for research applications that require surgical burrs and trephines.
The drill is constructed of light-weight aluminum alloy for balance and control
and is powered by a rechargeable 6-volt nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery.
The drill is shipped in a hard plastic case with die-cut foam for convenient
storage.
A fully discharged battery can
be charged in about 3 hours. Under normal operating conditions and with
intermittent use, the drill will work for up to 8 hours between charges. The
drill will run for approximately 45 minutes if it is operated continuously. Charge
the drill before prolonged periods of work to avoid losing power. The battery
should last for 1000 charging cycles.
The
Ideal Micro-Drill™ can be used with burrs that have a 2.33mm shaft diameter. No
tools are necessary to change burrs. Simply push the burr in to install. Pull the
burr out with fine plyers or strong hemostats to remove them from the drill. Be
sure to hold the shaft and not the head of the burr to avoid damaging the burr.
The
drill is shipped with a set of 5 round burrs: 0.6 mm, 0.8 mm, 1 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.6
mm. If you already know what burr size will work best for you, it is a good idea
to order replacements along with the drill. See the burrs available from Roboz
below.
The Ideal Micro-Drill™ can be used with the Kopf model 900 small
animal stereotaxic manipulator and the 1466-B stereotaxic handpiece holder. The
outside diameter of our drill is 3/4" (19.5 mm). Other stereotaxic stands
and adapters accommodating this size may also be used.
The Ideal Micro-Drill™ is covered by a one year warranty.
