Description: Rabbit polyclonal antibody to CD57 (V35)
Specificity: CD57 (V35) pAb detects endogenous levels of CD57 protein.
Applications: WB, IHC

Immunogen: Synthetic peptide, corresponding to amino acids 3-50 of Human CD57.

Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Product Form: 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.2.
Function: Involved in the biosynthesis of L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope on glycoproteins. Can also play a role in glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis. Substrates include asialo-orosomucoid (ASOR), asialo-fetuin, and asialo-neural cell adhesion molecule. Requires sphingomyelin for activity: stearoyl-sphingomyelin was the most effective, followed by palmitoyl-sphingomyelin and lignoceroyl-sphingomyelin. Activity was demonstrated only for sphingomyelin with a saturated fatty acid and not for that with an unsaturated fatty acid, regardless of the length of the acyl group.
Tissue Specificity: Mainly expressed in the brain.
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 43 family.
Post-Translational Modification: The soluble form derives from the membrane form by proteolytic processing.
Cellular Location: Golgi apparatus membrane. Secreted.
