Description: Rabbit polyclonal antibody to Caspase-2
Specificity: Depending on cell lines or tissues used, other cleavage products may be observed.

Immunogen: Raised against a 16 amino acid peptide from the amino-terminus of human Caspase-2.

Purification: Affinity chromatography purified via peptide column
Formulation: Supplied in PBS containing 0.02% sodium azide.
Storage: Can be stored at -20˚C, stable for one year. As with all antibodies care should be taken to avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Antibodies should not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures.
Function: Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Might function by either activating some proteins required for cell death or inactivating proteins necessary for cell survival. May be important in multistep carcinogenesis.
Tissue Specificity: High level expression seen in the embryonic CNS, liver, lung, kidney, small intestine, and hair follicles of vibrissae. Moderate expression seen in the skin, oral mucosa, skeletal muscle, submandibular gland and thymus. In the *****, it is highly expressed in spleen, lung and kidney. Moderately in the brain, heart, testis, liver. Low levels in the thymus, skeletal muscle, ovary and gut.
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the peptidase C14A family.
Post-Translational Modification: The mature protease can process its own propeptide, but not that of other caspases.
