Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in pancreas, in particular in pancreatic islets and pancreatic beta-cells. Detected in prostate, adrenal gland, small intestine, stomach and thyroid (at protein level).
Cellular Location: Cytoplasm. Secreted. Cytoplasmic vesicle > Secretory vesicle membrane.

Predominantly cytoplasmic. A small proportion is associated with secretory granules and membrane fractions. A small proportion is detected in the medium of cultured insuloma cells. Dexamethasone promotes the export into the culture medium.
