Description: Rabbit polyclonal antibody to AQP4 (P253)
Specificity: AQP4 (P253) pAb detects endogenous levels of AQP4 protein.
Applications: WB, IHC

Immunogen: Synthetic peptide, corresponding to amino acids 220-270 of Human AQP4.

Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Product Form: 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.2.
Function: Forms a water-specific channel. Osmoreceptor which regulates body water balance and mediates water flow within the central nervous system.
Tissue Specificity: Brain - muscle >> heart, kidney, lung, and trachea.
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.
Post-Translational Modification: Phosphorylation by PKC at Ser-180 reduces conductance by 50%. Phosphorylation by PKG at Ser-111 in response to glutamats increases conductance by 40% (By similarity).
Cellular Location: Membrane.
