Description: Rabbit polyclonal antibody to Bak (A2)
Specificity: Bak (A2) pAb detects endogenous levels of Bak protein.
Applications: WB, IHC, IF

Immunogen: Synthetic peptide, corresponding to the N-terminal of Human Bak.

Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Product Form: 1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.2.
Function: In the presence of an appropriate stimulus, accelerates programmed cell death by binding to, and antagonizing the anti-apoptotic action of BCL2 or its adenovirus homolog E1B 19k protein. Low micromolar levels of zinc ions inhibit the promotion of apoptosis.
Tissue Specificity: Expressed in a wide variety of tissues, with highest levels in the heart and skeletal muscle.
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the Bcl-2 family.
Cellular Location: Mitochondrion membrane.
