Description: Rabbit polyclonal antibody to c-PLA2 (N499)
Specificity: c-PLA2 (N499) pAb detects endogenous levels of c-PLA2 protein.

Immunogen: Synthetic peptide, corresponding to amino acids 480-530 of Human c-PLA2.

Purity: The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Function: Selectively hydrolyzes arachidonyl phospholipids in the sn-2 position releasing arachidonic acid. Together with its lysophospholipid activity, it is implicated in the initiation of the inflammatory response.
Tissue Specificity: Expressed in various tissues such as macrophages, platelets, neutrophils, fibroblasts and lung endothelium.
Post-Translational Modification: Activated by phosphorylation at both Ser-505 and Ser-727.
Cellular Location: Cytoplasm. Cytoplasmic vesicle.

Translocates to membrane vesicles in a calcium-dependent fashion.
